Logan (A Cocky Cage Fighter Novel) Page 11
I’m barely even coherent when Logan flips me to my stomach, grips my hips to lift them off the mattress. Only when he slams inside do I fall back to earth. With each of his thrusts inside me, the ice cube in my ass is more prominent and not necessarily in a bad way.
“Fuck, you’re soaking wet,” Logan tells me as he pounds into me faster and harder because that ice cube has to be long gone from the heat my pussy is putting off. I can feel the wetness from the ice and my arousal dripping down my thighs…and my ass. The wet noises of Logan’s thrusts are obscene and hot.
My fingers grip the sheets next to my face to hold on as he sends me into another dimension. I scream so hard and long when the height of pleasure hits that I’m pretty sure I’m gonna hyperventilate.
“Can’t get enough. Fucking amazing,” Logan groans as he continues to thrust in and out of my still clenching pussy. I’ve long ago lost the ability to hold myself up. He’s flattened me into the mattress, but that doesn’t slow him down. Logan grips my shoulder with one hand, my hip in the other to hold me still as he slams as deep as he can go inside me on every pump of his hips. And still, I hear myself begging him for more. More orgasms. More of his cock. More of everything. I want him to give it all to me.
“Nothing left. Fuuuck!” Logan shouts as he stills inside of me and I feel his hot release heat up whatever had cooled down by the ice.
Then his lips are on my shoulder, on my neck. He reaches for my chin to turn my head so that he can kiss my mouth while his weight remains on my back. Apparently realizing that he’s squashing me, Logan lifts up enough to flip me over. Holding himself up on his elbows, his tongue demands entrance past my lips, and I give it to him while running my palms up and down his back.
Eventually, he pulls back and rests his forehead against mine. “I don’t care if it’s hot as hell up here,” he tells me. “It could be a hundred degrees hotter, and I would endure it just to do that with you one more time.”
Smiling, I tell him, “I really liked the ice. But there’s gonna be a big wet spot on the bed.”
Chuckling, Logan says, “I’ll put down towels if I have to.”
“Fine by me,” I agree; because while the temperature in the room is becoming somewhat stifling, I can handle it. Tomorrow at this time, we’ll most likely be on a plane headed home where we can never be together again. I plan to savor our last few hours together and remember every second of them. I guess we lucked up that the power went out or we would already be over.
“How about a cold shower if we have any water?” Logan suggests.
“Let’s do it,” I agree.
With a quick kiss on my forehead, he finally climbs off of me and strolls into the bathroom where I hear the water come on.
After our shower, I plan to repay the ice cube favor to Logan and suck his cock so good that he’ll never forget it…or me.
…
Logan
While I was happy to have the air conditioner come on around four that afternoon, I was also sort of sad that the power was back on. That means that tomorrow morning we’ll have no excuse not to leave this paradise. And I don’t necessarily mean the environment as much as the view in the room.
For hours now, Brayden has been mine and completely naked. I know for a fact that I’ll never look at ice cubes the same again, not only from the sexy way I used them on her but because I really enjoyed the ways she teased me with them. Even the one she put where the sun doesn’t shine.
“I’m gonna get a real shower now and dry my hair,” Brayden says as she rolls off of me. “Wanna check the airline for flights?”
“If I have to,” I grumble like a little boy who is having his favorite toy taken away from him. It’s been so much fun being with Brayden that I can’t imagine getting back to my apartment and sleeping alone. Or eating alone. Or not having her there to watch TV with me.
“Not too early tomorrow,” Brayden says with a smile before she disappears into the bathroom and shuts the door.
I do, unfortunately, find us a flight for ten a.m., so I go ahead and book it, hating every second it takes to put in our information. Then, I send Brayden’s father an email letting him know when we should be back in town tomorrow and our flight number in case he wants to be at the airport to see Brayden when we arrive. If I had to bet, I would say he won’t show up, but at least I did my part and informed him.
After Brayden returns from the shower, she puts on one of my t-shirts. As I start toward the bathroom to wash off, she asks me what I want from room service and then that’s the extent of our conversation for the rest of the night. She's unusually quiet for hours on end while we watch television, not the least bit playful like she has been for the last few days.
When we’re ready to call it a night, she climbs into bed with my shirt still on, making me think that sexy time is over and that she just wants to sleep. Which is fine with me, but I can’t help feeling something else is wrong.
“Everything okay?” I ask Brayden when she rolls away from me, and I spoon her from behind.
“Yeah, just dreading going home,” she answers with a heavy sigh.
“Me too,” I agree with a kiss on her neck. Brayden doesn’t converse anymore, so I don’t push her. In fact, it doesn’t take long before I pass out after the incredibly physical day we had. It may go down as the best day of my life. Actually, it’s not even close. All the other days of my life just involved me sitting in my office with my head in a book or typing up patent applications or motions on the computer. Boring shit that doesn’t even come close to how much fun I’ve had here with Brayden.
…
When I wake up the next morning, my arms are empty, and the spot on the bed next to me is cold. It’s a sucker punch to the gut when I realize that things are back to the way they were before Brayden and that I won’t wake up with her snuggling up against me again. It puts me in a shitty mood. A mood that gets even worse when Brayden barely speaks a word to me before we head to the airport. And then, once the plane boards, she turns away from me in her seat and sleeps the whole way back.
I don’t know what I expected, maybe a quickie this morning before we left the hotel or joining the mile-high club. No, it didn’t even have to be sex, but I just wanted one last chance for her to touch me so that I would know that what we had these last few days was the real deal and meant something to her too.
“Do you want me to give you a ride home?” I ask Brayden after we claim our luggage. Or mostly my luggage since her things fit in a bag. “I could take you to dinner first?”
“No, but thanks, Logan,” she says to me sadly. “I’ll get an Uber.”
“An Uber?” I repeat. “Why can’t I just drop you off?”
“Because we shouldn’t be seen together,” she whispers.
“Your father sent me to Mexico to pick you up, so I think it would be permissible for me to give you a ride home.”
“No,” she says adamantly. “Go home, Logan. Just forget you ever met me.”
“That’ll be pretty fucking hard to do,” I snap at her, angry that she can be so ambivalent about being done with me when it feels like my chest is being ripped apart at just the thought of leaving her.
“We agreed that it was just one night,” she reminds me.
“One night that turned into two,” I correct.
“Only because of unusual circumstances,” Brayden points out. “Look, Logan. I had a lot of fun with you these last few days, but we both knew that it had to end back in Mexico for about a million different reasons.”
“A million?” I repeat. “Seriously? Because I can only think of one. And if we told your father that we wanted to see each other –”
“No,” Brayden cuts me off. “Please, just let me go. Okay?”
She acts like it’s that easy to do when standing here at the airport saying goodbye is one of the toughest things I’ve ever done.
So, Brayden does it for me. She starts walking toward the doors, and even though I follow behind her, she
s in a cab and pulling away from the curb before I can stop her.
That’s it then.
It’s over.
The best days of my life and then, boom, back to reality where tomorrow I’ll return to my office job, drown myself in a desk covered in files, and continue on with my boring life.
It was boring before, of course, but I didn’t know there was anything out there for me. Now I do, and I want it back, dammit!
Chapter Twenty-Two
Brayden
The drive to North Carolina is long, but it gives me some time to myself to think. Think about Logan and how much I loved being with him. Not just the sex, even though that part was absolutely incredible. But spending time with him is what I miss most of all.
Within a few days, he somehow became like this new part of me, and I don’t like not having him around. I feel…empty now. It’s a horrible feeling, and what sucks the most is that he was right there in town with me, but he may as well have been in a different country for all the good it does us.
My psycho ex didn’t show up at the house before I left for my trip to see Sadie. And since I didn’t have a phone and didn’t tell anyone where I was going, except for Sadie on my parents' house phone, he won’t find out.
I feel a little bad about not letting my family know, but at this point, I don’t think they care.
As soon as I pull up in front of the townhouse, Sadie comes bounding down the front stairs with her blonde hair up in a ponytail. Even from inside my car I can tell that my best friend is happy with her life. She should be. She’s killing it in college at Duke, and she has one of the greatest fiancés around.
“Hey, girl,” I say as I get out and round the front of my car to hug her.
“How are you?” she asks me as we embrace. Just that single question nearly has me falling apart. When I don’t answer, Sadie pulls away to examine my face. “Are you okay? What the hell happened in Cancun, Brayden?”
“It’s a long story,” I tell her, meaning the part where I was arrested and thrown in jail and the part where Logan came swooping in to save the day and steal my heart in the process. “How have you been?” I ask, trying to turn the conversation to her. “I’m sorry we’ve drifted apart over the last few years, but you look great and happy.”
“Oh, don’t worry about it,” Sadie says, waving me off with her hand. “People go their separate ways after high school, that’s all that happened to us. And I am happy,” she agrees with a smile. “But first, you’re gonna come inside and tell me what you’ve been up to. Around here it’s just the same old, same old.”
“Same old meaning living and loving a hot fighter every day and night. Yeah, sounds so ordinary,” I tell her with a sarcastic roll of my eyes.
“It isn’t hearts and flowers all the time,” she says as she goes up the steps and opens the door for me to walk through. “But it is pretty damn good.”
“I’m sure,” I agree. “Where’s Jude?”
“The gym, of course. I think that may be one of the few things we fight about,” Sadie tells me as she takes a seat on the sofa and pats the cushion next to her for me to take. I flop down on it even though I could use a long walk to stretch my legs from the drive.
“So you fight because he’s at the gym all the time working out and getting nice and buff for you?” I ask.
“Yes! He practically lives there. When he’s not training, he’s doing all the managerial shit, so I pretty much have to beg him to come home.”
“Yeah, sure you do,” I reply sarcastically with a laugh.
“It’s true. And then he was always mad at me because I wouldn’t set a date. Well, I wouldn’t set one, but now I have,” she adds with a bigger grin.
“You have, like, an actual date for your wedding?” I exclaim.
“Yes! I’m so excited. Jude’s been worried, thinking I was blowing him off, but I just had to get through my graduate degree before I thought about marriage, you know?”
“Yeah. So, when is it?” I prompt, unable to believe she’s finishing her graduate degree and I haven’t even finished my bachelor’s yet.
“Next June.”
“That’s awesome, Sadie! I’m so happy for you two,” I tell her, wishing I could have what the two of my friends have.
“So, what about you?” Sadie asks. “Any love interests at NYU?”
“Um, no,” I reply. “And I flunked out. My dad just found out when I got home, and he was so pissed that I just needed to get out of the house for a few days. Thanks for letting me come see you.”
“No problem,” she says as her brow furrows. “But back up. How did you flunk out? Is everything okay?”
“Yeah, of course,” I lie, because I don’t want my friend to worry about me, and I can’t exactly tell her about the shitstorm that surrounds my life. “I’ve just been stressed out, going through a few rough patches during the semester. I got behind in my classes and never caught up. Honestly, I didn’t care enough to put in any effort.”
“I’m sorry to hear that.”
“Don’t be,” I assure her. “I’m gonna live with my parents for a while, get a job to work off my debt to them, and try to figure out what I want to do with my life.”
“That’s good. I hope you find the answers,” she says before leaning forward to give me another quick hug. “And you know I’m here if you need anything,” Sadie adds when she pulls away.
“Thanks. I appreciate that. And I will be a better friend to you from now on.”
“I’m glad to hear that,” Sadie replies. “Because I wanted to ask you if you would be my maid of honor.”
“Really?” I squeal in surprise. “Are you sure?”
“Absolutely,” she says with a nod. “I’ve made a lot of friends around here, but they can’t beat the original.”
“Aww, thanks, Sadie,” I say, having to give her another hug. “I won’t let you down.”
“I know you won’t. You’re awesome, Brayden. Don’t let anyone tell you differently.”
And I promise myself that I’ll try and believe those words from now on.
Chapter Twenty-Three
Logan
It’s been a week, and I still haven’t been able to stop thinking about Brayden. I’ve tried to throw myself into legal research, but I can’t concentrate on anything I read, not only because it’s boring as fuck, but because I don’t want to be here, stuck in this office.
The four walls around me seem to have shrunk while I was gone. It’s almost a claustrophobic feeling, like working in that jail cell Brayden was kept inside. At least she was eventually able to escape. Me, not so much.
How did I ever think that this is all I wanted in life? In just a few days, Brayden helped me to see what I was missing in my life. Who I was missing.
All I have is my career, and I hate it. Honestly, I can’t even stand to be in this building anymore. Each day I’ve been taking longer lunches just to get outside and get some air. I haven’t been working late as much either, eager to go home and sulk there, in the gym or on my patio instead of here. Don’t even get me started on how miserable the nights alone in my bed are. Who knew how good it felt just to know someone else was there with you even if you didn’t touch? Of course, I miss the touching too, but mostly I miss seeing Brayden’s beautiful face each day when I wake up. Now there’s nothing but loneliness when I go to sleep and loneliness waiting for me when I open my eyes in the morning.
Since I’ve been back in town, my sister won’t seem to take a hint that I don’t want to talk. She keeps calling me on my cell and at the office, which is starting to get annoying. I love my sister, but I can’t handle all of her questions right now when I’m still so raw and angry that it’s over with Brayden.
“Mr. Davenport?” the intercom in my office buzzes, but the voice isn’t our office secretary. She’s usually the only one who calls me.
“Yes?” I ask aloud to whoever is on the line.
“Mr. Chambers would like to speak to you in his office righ
t away.”
Shit! It’s Walter Chamber’s assistant.
“Oh, um, okay, thanks. Tell him that I’m on my way up,” I reply.
Oh, god. Did Brayden tell him about us? Is he calling me up to his office to fire me? Even if he does, I’ll walk out of this building with my head held high, unable to regret anything that we did. It was the best few days of my life.
My fingers fidget with straightening my tie and then the cuffs on my dress shirt as I ride up the elevator.
“Go on in; he’s waiting,” Walter’s assistant tells me solemnly.
Jesus. Does she know I slept with Brayden too?
“Thanks,” I reply before I knock and push open his office door.
“You wanted to see me, Mr. Chambers?” I ask, trying to sound confident.
“Logan. Sit,” Walter says, gesturing to the chair across from his desk. “It’s about Brayden.”
“Oh?” I ask. No surprise there, I guess. At least I haven’t even been here long enough to need a box to carry out my belongings when I get fired.
“She’s run off again,” my boss tells me with a sigh.
Oh, god. I didn’t know that a few simple words had the power to stop my heart and lungs from functioning.
“What do you mean she ran off?” I ask when I’m finally able to speak. Where the hell did Brayden go now? Is she with that asshole? Did he kidnap her?
“I’m pretty sure she’s gone down to Raleigh to see her friend, Sadie. But, of course, she didn’t tell anyone she was leaving; just, poof, and she was gone one morning.”
“Oh,” I say in relief as I relax a little. “Then she’s fine, right?”
“I guess so,” he replies with a shrug of his shoulders under his white dress shirt.
Has he called her? Talked to her to even make sure? Hell, I would right now if I knew her phone number. I bet Page could get it from Sadie…
